The registration fee is €485 per person, including venue & lectures, morning coffee, lunch and afternoon tea (5 days), dinner (1 day) and excursion.

Is the ESP Summer School also suitable for non-academic researchers?

The ESP Summer School 2025 is suitable for non-academic researchers, though is particularly developed for PhD candidates, PostDocs and early career researchers. While priority is given to these applicants (PhD candidates, PostDocs and early career researchers), applications from non-academic researchers are welcome and will also be considered.

What are the eligibility criteria for the ESP Summer School?

The ESP Summer School 2025 is open to PhD candidates, PostDocs and early career researchers, with a background in ecology, environment, geography, economics, etc., and with an interest in the economic valuation of natural capital and ecosystem services. English proficiency is required and knowledge about ecosystem services is desirable.

What is the application procedure for the ESP Summer School?

What is the procedure for international participants?

Where applicable, international applicants need to make their own visa, travel, etc. arrangements. The RdG Summer School can provide an invitation letter for participants accepted to attend the ESP Summer School.

Are there scholarships available for the ESP Summer School?

Currently there no scholarships available for the ESP Summer School and, hence, we recommend to contact your host institution for funding opportunities.

Are there discounts available for participants from the Global South?

There are no discounts available for participants from the Global South. We recommend to contact your host institution for funding opportunities.

Does the ESP Summer School program include specific content or sessions related to marine ecosystem mapping?

The ESP Summer School 2025 will include ecosystem service valuation and mapping of various biomes, however there won't be a specific session related to marine ecosystems.

Will the ESP Summer School be held in 2026?

The ESP Rudolf de Groot Summer School 2025 is the first edition and the idea is to give continuity the coming years. The theme and location of the second edition in 2026 remain to be defined.
