Third ESP Africa Conference

Ecosystem services for the future:

Delivering value for Nature, Livelihoods and Economic Investment

The Ecosystem Services Partnership (ESP) is happy to announce that its third ESP Africa Regional conference will take place in Musanze, Rwanda, on 8-10 June 2022. The conference theme is 'Ecosystem services for the future: Delivering value for Nature, Livelihoods and Economic Investment'.

The third ESP Africa Regional Conference is part of the annual cycle of ESP regional conferences around the globe. The regional conferences follow our world conferences, of which the last world conference in Germany hosted more than 750 delegates from over 65 countries.
ESP conferences are open to both ESP members and non-members.

Conference postponed to 2022

The Organising Committee has decided to postpone the conference to 8-10 June 2022. Organising a hybrid event involves a lot of work and extra costs, and we do believe the hybrid format is still necessary to make the conference accessible to a wider audience. Further to this, there are still travel restrictions in place in Rwanda, which make the live participation more burdensome for attendees. With less than 2 months left until the conference, we had to make this timely decision to avoid participants making travel arrangements and possibly incurring other costs.

On the positive side, we believe this final postponement will let us deliver an even better organised event with a richer program, more diverse participation and smoother in-person and online experience for attendees. We already have a great program in place, over 60 diverse and high-quality abstract submissions, exciting field trip options and a wonderful venue. We expect to have a successful event in the first half of 2022.

The exact date will be communicated asap so that you can save the date. Keep an eye on this website, ESP’s newsletters and social media for the latest updates!
